About Gnarly Barley Brewing Company

Gnarly Barley began in Zac and Cari Caramonta’s cramped garage. The upstart beer production company had its festival premiere in 2011 at the New Orleans on Tap Beer Festival. By 2014, the craft beer brewery had a 14,000-square-foot facility in Hammond.

Gnarly Barley creates a diverse selection of beers by adopting craft beer production methods and recipes from brewers worldwide. Rather than strictly following specific style guidelines, the company produces unique beers by creatively combining the freshest ingredients.

Year-Round Beers

Gnarly Barley Brewing Company offers the following beers all year: 

• Catahoula Common: Named after the Louisiana state dog, this American lager is light, crisp, and perfect on the hot, humid “dog days” of summer.  
• Jucifer IPA: This hoppy Juicy Hazy IPA gets its juicy notes from papaya, mango, and grapefruit. Its hazy side comes from house hazy yeast featuring a soft mouthfeel. 
• Korova Milk Porter: If you prefer your brews smooth, sweet, and satisfying, you’ll enjoy this Baltic oatmeal porter with notes of coffee and chocolate.
• Haus Marg: This Margarita Gose-style beer adds bursts of lime and tangerine to a German sour beer traditionally brewed with a touch of salt. 
• Skater Aid: This Italian-style pilsner is clean and bright with a dry, crisp finish. Why Skater Aid? As an avid skateboarder, Company President Zac Caramonta donates a portion of its sales to local skateboarding initiatives. 

Seasonal Offerings

Seasonal beers allow brewers to take advantage of fresh ingredients, tailor their beers to the weather conditions, and play off holidays and traditions. Whether you’re in Hammond, LA, or Covington, LA, Gnarly Barley Brewing Company offers you the following 2024 seasonal brews:

• HiFi Hefe: A spring release, this South German Hefeweizen-inspired brew has a deep golden color, a pleasant density, and a hint of spice. 
• Just Jam: Like the berries it features, this fruity offering comes into season in early summer. From May to July, beer fans can enjoy the blueberry and strawberry notes with a touch of tartness. 
• Fest Bier: Where would a microbrewery — or any brewery — be without a seasonal release for Oktoberfest? Available in the fall, this medium-bodied beer has a rich golden malt profile and a hint of caramel.
• Second Summer: Released in the winter, this sophisticated hazy IPA features notes of stone fruit, white wine, and tropical fruits.

Limited Releases

Ready for something truly different? Try Gnarly Barley’s 2024 limited releases while they last! 

• Strawberry Catahoula: A twist on the traditional Catahoula Common, this American lager features a light body and a refreshing taste for spring — all with the flavor of strawberry. 
• Coconut Jucifer: With a June release, this summer brew has a toasted coconut flavor with a juicy orange and mango finish.
• Strawberry Shortcake DIPA: All double IPAs are brewed with extra hops and malt, but this “Milkshake IPA” also features strawberry and vanilla with a creamy touch of lactose. 
• Peanut Butter Korova: Who doesn’t love peanut butter and chocolate? When fall rolls around, you can try it in your beer with this tasty twist on the classic Baltic oatmeal porter.
