The best kind of Acquistapace’s vacation

Late spring and summer are the seasons when we vacation the most.

Erik Acquistapace takes it to another level. He vacations often during the summer, but it’s not always with his family, unless one considers his customers family.

Based on that reasoning, Erik will gladly take at least six working vacations during the next few months.

Erik will be on the road with his friend and co-worker Doug Gulley looking for the finest foods to bring to customers of Acquistapace’s Covington Supermarket and Acquistapace’s Wine and Cheese in Mandeville.

“We’re going to Orlando for a specialty foods show, and then we’re going to Long Beach, California for a natural and organic food show,” Acquistapace said. “It’s important to us that we find the items people want now, but maybe won’t be able to find anywhere else until maybe a year from now. People want to try new things, and we get them. But some are just looking for the best value on everyday items, and we’re always working hard to find those items for our customers too.”

Acquistapace is a certified cheese specialist with the American Cheese Society and he’ll venture west to Denver for that group’s annual convention in July. Approximately 1,000 other “cheese geeks” will be there sampling, discovering, and sharing the best in artisan cheese craftsmanship from around the U.S. He’s scheduled to stop at the Fancy Food Show in New York City in June, among other food conventions this year.

When Acquistapace is not on the road discovering new items to bring to customers, he can be found at either of the Acquistapace’s locations sharing his experiences, gained knowledge and love of food with everyone who asks.
