KARRIE WHITE OF ACQUISTAPACE’S WINE & CHEESE RECEIVES THE AMERICAN CHEESE SOCIETY’S INAUGURAL CERTIFIED CHEESE SENSORY EVALUATOR™ CREDENTIAL8.24.18
Mandeville, LA (August 24, 2018) – Acquistapace’s Wine & Cheese is proud to announce that employee Karrie White is a member of the inaugural class of American Cheese Society Certified Cheese Sensory Evaluators™ (ACS CCSEs™). Karrie is part of an elite group of 29 individuals from 20 companies who passed the first ACS T.A.S.T.E. Test™ (Technical, Aesthetic, Sensory, Tasting Evaluation) offered by ACS. This exam was held on July 25, 2018 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
The ACS T.A.S.T.E. Test™ evaluates cheese professionals’ knowledge and skills in the assessment of cheese, from determining cheese condition and quality, to evaluating cheese flavor, body, texture, and appearance. Individuals who pass the exam earn the title of ACS Certified Cheese Sensory Evaluator™, or ACS CCSE™. The ACS CCSE™ credential is a mark of excellence and achievement that reflects a commitment to the best possible care for cheese and service to those who love it.
The ACS CCSE™ certification is the second credential offered by the American Cheese Society. The first, the ACS Certified Cheese Professional® or ACS CCP® credential, was launched in 2012. ACS CCPs® currently total more than 1,000 individuals in the United States, Canada, Australia, Mexico, and Europe. Twenty-four of the 29 individuals who passed the 2018 ACS T.A.S.T.E. Test™ are also ACS CCPs®.
“The T.A.S.T.E. test was truly a unique and intense exam. Evaluating cheese quality & flavor is not something one can study for. Years of experience and dedication to the craft sensory evaluation could have prepared me for the ACS T.A.S.T.E. test.”
Each ACS CCSE™ receives an official lapel pin, embroidered patch, and a certificate, along with the right to call themselves an ACS Certified Cheese Sensory Evaluator™ or ACS CCSE™. ACS CCSEs™ are required to demonstrate continued active participation and professional development within the industry to maintain their credentials, and they must recertify every three years.
